The Journey

With groundbreaking advancements like interventional glaucoma (IG) entering the ophthalmic field, the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA) and MJM partnered to create a first-of-its-kind program aimed at empowering surgeons on the use and benefits of IG and making a case for the future of glaucoma care.

Business of Interventional Glaucoma was a full-day event consisting of five sessions, each hosted by surgeons and administrators who’ve experienced success with IG in their own practices. The leaders shared insights on how they implemented IG into their workflow, from billing and compliance to patient education. At the end of the program, attendees were provided with materials to help them begin operationalizing IG within their own practices and participate in ongoing conversations with their team.

The Work

In preparation for the program, MJM coordinated with the doctors and administrators who were invited to speak to create personalized social videos to help generate excitement. ASOA designed their event registration page, while MJM provided copy and developed a series of emails, social posts, and printed materials that directed the audience to that page and encouraged them to register.

For the program itself, MJM laid out a firm agenda that hit the major points of what makes IG work. We coordinated and found speakers who could share strong insights on their experiences. We also provided them with key talking points to keep up momentum during the program. Each session was followed by a Q&A so guests could ask questions and engage with the panelists.

After the program, each guest left with a 1-day, 1-week, 1-month chart. MJM developed this chart so practices could plan out and take their next steps toward implementing IG. In addition to take-home materials, we also sent out two surveys, one before and one after the event to gauge the audience’s level of confidence in and understanding of IG. These helped us measure the overall success and impact of the program.
